My AP Human Geography students live in an urban New England city and come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Most of them have never traveled outside of the city and our class deals directly with urban environments. The AP Human Geography has taken an annual field trip to Boston. This year, our previous fundraising has been cancelled.
Recently, the bowling team fees have increased and our students are not able to cover the costs.
80 % of our students at our school are considered low-income and cannot afford the increased fees attached to the bowling leagues. They are dedicated players who are sometimes viewed as less than simply because they don't have the equipment other players do, but they do not let that affect them. Most importantly, they just have fun playing!
The players on my school's bowling team are so dedicated and genuinely enjoy bowling! They do really well without much practice, but unfortunately can't afford the fees that other schools and students that we compete with can afford. Your donation will help them continue to bowl in our bowling league.
During our bowling practices and games, our players aren't allowed on their phones and they don't mind!
They learn to have valuable conversations with each other and really help and encourage each other during practice and games. It may not seem like it but it truly is a team sport to our players.
