The Talented Art Program at Ponchatoula High School is planning to do a community service project for our local animal shelter for the coming school year.
We have just about everything we need for the project, except for a color printer for printing and editing the photos we take to be used as reference for watercolor paintings and then enlarged into huge acrylic paintings to beautify the Animal Shelter surroundings and make it a happier and more attractive place to visit to adopt the dogs and cats.
Each year I try to find ways to fund a project of this type that students will benefit from making a connection with the community.
I have 15 students who will participate in this project.
We are in need of a color printer, ink and photo paper to complete this project.
Students are going to take photos of the animals at the shelter on a field trip. There is an adoption garden where students will be able to take the animals outside. They have learned digital photography and we have 2 cameras to use and some of the students have their own.
We could use a printer that has the capability of putting the card from the camera directly into the printer.
Again, my students will benefit from this experience by making a connection with the community through service and becoming part of something greater than themselves.
