Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is implementing an Agricultural Science Cohort for students who want to obtain their CVA (Certified Veterinarian Assistant). Since we are a brand new school, supplies are very low. We are a technical high school guiding students of low economic status towards their future careers.
Students in the Agriculture Academy are from all backgrounds which helps them be successful in and out of the classroom.
Students in this academy are extremely hard working, determined to learn, and talented. Agriculture students pursuing their CVA will take courses which include: animal science, vet med applications, equine science, livestock production, small animal management.
All of our students choose an academy at the beginning of the year, and aim high towards their professional certificates for their future careers.
My Project
Livestock Production, Small Animal Management, Equine Science, Vet Med Applications, Advanced Animal Science and complete a Practicum Course with a Veterinarian for their CVA.
Many of these students are devoted to being a Veterinarian Assistant, Veterinarian Technician, Veterinarian or work in the Animal Science field.
Many of the students have already chosen their pathway for their future as a Veterinarian, Veterinarian Assistant and Veterinarian Technician.
I hope to give my students a hands-on learning opportunity in Animal Science with several different simulation tools to use in the classroom to get some hands-on practical experience. With this life-sized simulator, students will be able to practice jugular injections and IV administration, intramuscular injections, subcutaneous injections, ear tagging and growth implant placement. It is important for students to know how these processes work and function if they want to continue in the animal science field.
