Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Walking into our school, you will find a diverse group of kids. Many of my students are English Language Learners, with a few who are even new to the country.
Walking into my classroom, you will find a diverse group of kids.
Many of my students have trouble focusing in class without fidgeting. My classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life.
We are a Title I school, and our whole school gets free breakfast and lunch. I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn to read and write.
My Project
Remember being stuck in your seat all day while you were in school? It is so hard to concentrate and make yourself focus when you can't move around. My students are hungry for the ability to move.
Funding this project will allow my students who have trouble focusing in class while sitting still, the ability to move constantly without standing out as different to other students in the room.
Using Bouncy Bands in my room will create a quiet way students can move that won't disturb or distract other students. Bouncy Bands and improve student time on task since they aren't as anxious or hyperactive. Children love Bouncy Bands and since they can finally move while they work instead of feeling trapped at their desk all day.
This should improve productivity for all students in my room as distractions will go away and everyone will have the ability to get some movement when they are feeling cramped and stuck at their desks.
