Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I team teach and have two wonderful classes of bilingual students. My classes are composed of English language learners, students with dyslexia, gifted students, and students with special needs.
Our mission as an IB campus is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
At our Title I school, the vast majority of my students come from low-income households. I aim to provide them with a nurturing environment that encourages them to grow into productive and kind human beings.
My Project
I teach a diverse group of students with diverse needs. My dual language classroom has at-risk students who have special needs such as learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADD, and ADHD. These bouncy chairs will help meet some needs by providing them a seat that allows them to spring forward, sideways, and bounce in a safe way.
Movement improves memory and enhances learner motivation and morale.
Students who are more active have better focus, faster cognitive processing, and more successful memory retention. I know these bouncy chairs will facilitate movement and learning in my classroom.
