My students need exercise ball chairs to use throughout the day. In our classroom, we use flexible seating. My students work best when they are able to move.

My Students

I work at what is considered a "high needs" school. Our free and reduced-priced lunch rate is 100%. We teach many students who do not know where their next meal will be coming from. They are unable to concentrate on the level that is needed throughout the day. These students tend to struggle in school because they have real life problems that are blocking their ability to learn. Despite the challenges they face, they get up each morning and come to school. I want to make sure their school experience is a positive one!

My Project

These materials will support all students in fourth-grade. Currently, we have exercise balls in our classroom that do not have bases. Students love this seating choice but have a hard time keeping the balls steady. The exercise balls roll all over the floor throughout the day and bump into different items in the classroom.

The base chairs would improve their learning because students would be able to use the seats they like best while keeping balanced and steady.

Flexible seating has changed my classroom for the better! Students are able to learn in a way that is comfortable and supportive of their learning!
