My classroom is a place where students learn and grow from each other. We strive to operate in a positive environment by building our classmates up so they can focus on becoming their best selves and advancing academically. We work on fostering a growth mindset and strive to learn from our mistakes. We are inquisitive, adventurous, and enjoy new challenges. We are blossoming as readers, scientists, mathematicians, writers, and historians.
We are very lucky to be a part of a strong, caring, and supportive learning community.
One of the things we love most about our school is some of the students who strengthen our classrooms with their diverse learning needs. In our classroom, we have students with difficult behavioral needs, students with learning disabilities, and students learning English as a Second Language. These students strengthen our classroom and school by creating empathetic, accepting, and caring peers. I love my students, their families, my colleagues, and my school because we are always there for each other.
My Project
Flexible seating has many benefits including choice of seating, comfort, and movement - all of which help students focus more.
Several of my students have little choice in many areas of their lives.
I want our classroom to be a homey, safe, and comfortable environment where students are allowed freedom of movement throughout the day. I have seen firsthand how this freedom allows students to focus on their work while still having the opportunity to get their wiggles out and move as children should!
I currently have flexible seating for half of my class. Funding this project will allow more students the opportunity to enjoy flexible seating each day.
