Ms. Meyer from Charlotte NC is requesting Flexible Seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 10 yoga balls for more flexible seating in the classroom. They love to constantly be moving, and flexible seating is a great way to have students focus when working independently.
I teach in a first grade classroom in a growing city. My students are an awesome group of bright and creative first graders! There are 22 of them and they love to get up and move and be hands on. They work well when they are up an moving and being creative. Team work makes the dream work in my classroom! My students are very curious and always asking questions. I strive to instill confidence in my students and do so through fun and engaging activities.
Our school is a personalized learning school.
That means that students work at their own pace and learn using the style that best works for them. We use a variety of learning strategies like group and partner work, alternative seating and project based learning. My students love to learn and come to school every day with a positive attitude and willing to work their hardest. I am very lucky and thankful to have this group of students this year!
Flexible seating allows students to make a choice of how to complete their independent work. Right now, students are given a variety of options in the classroom to work including working on the floor, carpet or different tables. Students tend to work better when they are given the choice of where they complete their work. I have noticed a difference in my students' work when they are more comfortable when they are completing that work.
Through the use of yoga balls in the classroom, my students will be able to work around the room while also getting their wiggles out!
The yoga balls will also allow for a more comfortable flexible seating option. These yoga ball chairs will get great use in my classroom and give me the opportunity to provide my students with a more flexible and interactive learning environment!
