I teach Kindergarten in North Carolina. This is a small, rural community where the teachers are able to foster meaningful relationships with both students and their families. The students at our school are bright, energetic, and funny. They love hands-on learning and learning through play. We love to read books together, do gonoodle dance breaks, and play games as a class. My students are motivated and hard working. Having positive relationships with students is something I strive daily for in my classroom.
These bouncy stools will allow my students to focus on their learning because their movement needs will be met simultaneously. They will not have to seek external stimulation while also trying to focus. Sensory needs are important to early child development and learning. Kids learn best through movement and experience. When asked sit at a table, often kindergarteners will actively seek out physical stimulation. This in turn takes their attention away from what is being asked of them. Being allowed to bounce and wiggle on these stools while simultaneously working will negate the need to search further for sensory stimulation.
