My Students

I teach English Language Arts to grades 6-8.

I have many students who suffer from focus and attention deficits that makes sitting still in a traditional classroom difficult. Teaching in an Urban district, my students face many challenges and being able to focus comfortably in their classroom shouldn't be one of them.

My Project

I envision my students having the options to sit with a chair with a bouncy band or in a balance chair instead of a traditional chair or desk. This will allow students the ability to bouncy their feet and move in a way that is not distracting to others and will hopefully prevent disruptions in class and walking around will be limited.

If my students are able to dispel their energy in a positive way, they will be able to better focus their brains to the learning at hand.

I hope that these tools will give them the motivation and the focus to succeed.
