My students need 10 exercise balls to sit on in the classroom to improve concentration and meet their sensory needs!
This project expired on August 27, 2010.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
The days of sitting still at your desk in rows where teachers talk and students listen have been over for some time. And in our classroom we learn in all different positions... sitting on the couch, laying on the floor, and now we are ready to bounce into learning.
Our classroom consists of a mix of varying abilities, we have a total of 21 students, 9 of those students have a disability.
With two certified teachers in the classroom we are constantly working on group projects and learning from eachother. As teachers we have decided that some students need an Exercise Ball to sit on (instead of a chair) at their desk or at the rug when we are meeting. Numerous classrooms around the country already have students sitting on these Exercise Balls and it has helped their students academics and sensory needs. Studies have shown that sitting on these balls instead of chairs helps to improve concentration, excess energy is burned off, and students become more physically fit.
Some schools have already gone completely chairless! We on the other hand are starting small and want to introduce 10 of these exercise balls to our classroom community. We want to give students the opportunity to learn and sit any way that works best for them. Therefore we feel an exercise ball will help students fulfill some of their sensory needs. Please help our students bounce into learning on their new Exercise Balls!!
Your donations will help improve our students performance academically as well as their sensory needs.
Students will be able to convert fractions into percents and write newspaper articles to prepare for middle school in a comfortable seat that will lead them on the path to success.
