This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in East Baton Rouge where 98% of our students are African American. This will be my 5th year, but my 1st time in 5th grade.
Our students at my school are energetic, intelligent, inquisitive, talented, and most of all, loving!
They give it their all and love technology.
All of my students participate in the arts daily: drama, art, vocal music, and dance. Students in grades 2-5 even learn instrumental music and band. We love seeing their talents come alive in our school productions throughout the year!
My Project
The materials I am requesting will truly help my students work to the highest of their capabilities by allowing them to bounce out any distractions they have. Students can earn these seats through rewards and also be allowed to use them during small group meetings. My students will benefit most from this in their writing small group stations. Our students work hard at our magnet program daily. Writing can truly drain our 5th grade students sometimes as it is quite tedious. Allowing students to have these seats during writing will encourage them to stay on task as we complete assignments!
