Help me give my students exercise balls for controlled movement that they need to keep their focus. Being able to bounce gently and balance helps kids develop core strength, reduces fatigue, and allows movement without distracting others.
My class is made up of students who have been admitted to a program for highly gifted children. I work hard to create a learning environment that is fast moving, project based, and individually appropriate. We use curriculum that benefits the unique needs of our students, with a strong emphasis on Language Arts, Math, and Science. Our goal is to help students become self motivated and confident learners, but also kind and thoughtful. Highly gifted children require a lot of stimulation and novelty to keep focused. No "down time" with these guys! Rather than spending a lot of time practicing skills, they move quickly through concepts as they "get" the big ideas. This creates a need for additional resources in our classrooms, such as books that cover six or more grade levels, flexible furniture pieces, math games that enrich and entertain, and science materials for projects and experiments.
I'm hoping to add four new exercise balls so that my students can use them as chairs while working.
The kids will love these chairs and fidgets to keep their their minds and bodies busy!
Flexible seating helps kids keep focused, be less distracting to others with tapping and kicking, builds core strength, lets them move and uses up excess energy. The kids love the balls! I think they are less wiggly and have more energy at the end of the day when they have an opportunity to move. To keep the balls healthy, I've added on a repair kit.
The fidgets are amazing little mesh sleeves holding a marble, so simple, and yet when I used them last year, they were always in someone's hands when listening to novel, a lesson, or working.
