My Students

If you can't visualize it, you can't truly comprehend it! This is the ideology I embody every day as I work to get my learners engaged in content. My goal is to help my kiddos create pathways to information in their brains, so they are more likely to store and ultimately use the information.

My students are freshmen and sophomores at a comprehensive high school.

Over the course of their week, they attend seven different subjects with a rotating block schedule. They aren't just one type of student. They are their own type of learner, and it is my job to reach them where they are. This can be a struggle at a large school, but that's what makes my classroom different and challenging, in a good way.

My Project

Last year I had a yoga ball in my classroom, and many of the more squirrely students were constantly fighting over it! So I asked the DonorsChoose community for more and they have been amazing. I need even more!

I want to do anything I can to help students maintain focus.

So I'm asking for additional yoga balls for my classroom. I have found that students who were perpetually late to class, are now on time. Students who struggled to focus, now have an outlet for their energy. The health benefits, on top of the educational benefits, have made my classroom a better place to be.
