Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of challenged fourth graders. My students face many disadvantages all of which they face every day with an attitude of perseverance. This Never Give Up Attitude is generated by their desire to better themselves and their families through educational and cultural opportunities. The class is made up of a group of students, each with a mixture of backgrounds, abilities, and interests. These students come together to participate in activities that are new and outside of their comfort level. Our school is dedicated to providing a positive learning environment to enable each child to reach their full potential. Even though our school promotes the STEAM model, we lack the materials to carry out our mission.
It is through teamwork and perseverance that my students become excited and energized; STEM challenges define their Greatness!
When they work together they learn life skills and self-confidence that will take them beyond elementary education and into a life long learning. Engineering challenges engage their Learning!
My Project
To be truly successful in teaching my students real-world STEAM, I must first become a Bot Ball Hero! I have been using the Junior Botball curriculum in my classroom for two years but have not received the training to achieve success with my challenged students. My school was granted the robots and the computers but I lack the skills and knowledge to successfully teach my students coding. I have tried for two years to create an environment that will give my students real-world STEAM experiences but I lack the knowledge and skills to make this a reality.

Through this Junior Botball course, I can develop a class that will tap into my students' creative problem-solving abilities. I will have the skills to take my students to the next level. The Junior Botball Challenge will give me the chance to truly make a difference in my students' lives.
