Students at my school come from a working class neighborhood that is very well integrated. They are every color of the rainbow and come from multiple backgrounds. One thing that they have in common is that many of their families are working multiple jobs and having trouble making ends meet.
Teachers, counselors, and other staff members frequently purchase basic need items for students who are not able to receive them from their families.
This school uses a program of catching students doing the right thing. There is an ongoing conversation about "being a bucket filler" by doing good things. They receive incentive "bucks" for good behavior and deeds.
My Project
With having a variety of students in one classroom. I need extra things for my students to do when they’re finished with their work. We have been working on coding new robot and other programs. I think by adding two Botley robots to our collection students will enjoy using them.
With hands on technology, coding these robots will help students be engaged in the classroom.
Students can work on team building skills by working with another student to help programming the robots with different codings. Students can program Botley to do what they want; an example moving objects around, picking items up, and students can have the robot perform different task. We can use Botley during math. He will be able to work on multiplication facts, angles, shapes, patterns, and many other manipulatives. This will improve students activities and involvement in the classroom with work in math skills, and being able to work with other students.
