My students need this coding robot to enhance their measurement, stem and ability to collaborate. This robot is challenging and kid-friendly, they will make connections of science, technology, engineering and math.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the privilege of teaching 1st grade at an inner city Title I school. I teach all subjects to a self-contained class. This is my ninth year teaching and my second year teaching second grade. I am super excited about this year of teaching and learning for my students. I'm so humbled and honored to be part of such an influential and important part of life for my students and their families. Our classroom is our home away from home and a place where we listen, love, laugh and learn as a family!
My Project
My students need this Botley Coding Robot to enhance their love and desire for STEM activities. Botley Robot will afford them an opportunity incorporate math (measurement) and practice measuring distance to ensure that Botley is able to successfully complete his obstacle course.
I think that having Botley the Coding Robot in our classroom will demand that my students collaborate and discover areas of strength and improvement in themselves and each other.
My students will also apply all steps of the Scientific Method and keep a running record of what worked and what didn't work. Engineering will also be a major factor in my students being successful using Botley the Coding Robot. I know that my students are up for the challenge!
