My Students

My classroom consists of a combination of 1st and 2nd graders. My students are energetic and eager to learn. For many of my students, English is their second language. Other students come from poverty. Regardless of their backgrounds, my students all have the same drive to be successful in school.

They want to learn as much as they can and as their teacher, I want to ensure that they are realizing their maximum learning potential.

Technology offers my students a variety of ways to meet and exceed standards in a variety of subject areas.

My Project

My students love to learn about coding. They've been working on their individualized learning paths on Code.org. One important piece to the development of their coding skills is the ability to program a robot. According to the robot's maker, Kaplan, Botley is "Aligned to CSTA and ISTE Technology Standards, Botley is the first classroom-appropriate early coding robot to be STEM Approved™ by STEM.org™. Botley is perfect for younger students who are just beginning to show an interest in coding and computer science — and Botley is completely screen-free!" This robot would allow for my students to take their coding skills a step further.
