My students are Boston public high school students that are enrolled in a full inclusion program. My students come from a traditionally underserved and or underprivileged inner-city population composed of a mixture of general education and students with various levels of learning or emotional disabilities. More than three-quarters of my students come from low income homes.
Our school truly is one of a kind, just like all of its students.
Every day is an opportunity for students to grow both academically and socially.
My Project
As a inner city public school there are fewer opportunities for our students to break outside their community and see the world. Our school focuses on inclusion of students with disabilities, specifically social-emotional, and try to provide every opportunity to them. This trip is an important stepping stone for our students and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Our group is taking a trip to learn from outside our classrooms and communities and becoming global citizens.
The trip was initiated by students and their desire to travel at a young age, which is an invaluable experience. With the help of teachers, family and friends, we continue to fund raise to help off-set the cost for our students.
