This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a diverse and incredible group of preschool students. Many of the students in my classroom come from low income households.
In my classroom I have the opportunity to teach children with Down Syndrome, children whose families are experiencing poverty, children with limited english proficiency, and children from a wide range of backgrounds.
All of them are enthusiastic learners who are eager for new experiences.
My Project
As a part of our units of study, we spent six weeks exploring Light and Color. During this unit, students learn how to view the world like a scientist by asking questions, experimenting, and learning from trial and error. A light table will enable my students to access the explorations of light described in the curriculum.
As an educator in an urban school, issues of equity are always on my mind.
By supporting this project, you will be providing my students with the same materials that their peers in wealthier districts enjoy.
