My students need resources including paint, a basketball hoop and basketballs, to help spruce up our outside space and make it accessible during recess.
Our school is an early educational therapeutic and behavioral model for young students experiencing significant difficulties with appropriate behavior that impede their ability to take advantage of a regular education program.
Students are provided with a program at this campus that affords students smaller classes and more individual attention in a nurturing environment so that they can achieve success.
I have 12 students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd. Each one of my students is very energetic and enjoys playing with their peers. Our school day consists of a lot of behavior and academic demands on our students, especially for the little guys. My students depend on their free time each day as an outlet to burn some of their energy and simply just have a break. Not only does it benefit them as students, but I am able to have more success with my lessons when they are allotted this time. I want to make the most of this time and give my students an area they are excited to go to and take pride in at their school.
My Project
Every student deserves to have a place outside where they can run, pretend, and just enjoy their peers without any demands from their teacher for at least a small fraction of the school day. Currently our school has small space outside that is just concrete and fence.
Once provided the supplies to help spruce up our outside space, students will be able to take part in giving this space some color and life.
Ideally on Earth Day, students will beautify our outdoor space with colorful paint, a garden, and a basketball area. Students will be able to plant flower and trees and paint an area dedicated to a beautiful garden. Another section will be created into our students' favorite activity-basketball. A new hoop will be put up with regulation lines pines on the blacktop. These areas will allow students to make the most out of this outdoor space andenjoy for years to come.
