My Students

I serve 2300-2400 students in grades 9-12 and all socioeconomic levels and ethnic backgrounds are represented in the school. My students are creators, innovators, and have a thirst to have hands on experiences in terms of making and creating in the library.

My Project

Students get a full hour for lunch and it is oftentimes the one chance they get to relax and destress during the day. With a small collection of board games and chess sets made available to students, many take advantage of borrowing them to play and connect with their friends in a safe way, when oftentimes lunch is when we see the most behavior issues otherwise.

With new additions to our board game collection, more students can partake in play in a productive way.

Many of the games involve critical thinking, strategy, and most importantly, a good laugh.
