We are a great school with 500 plus elementary students, all of whom come through my classroom twice a week. They love to learn and love to play and make music. The school itself is a wonderful place that allows students to learn in a safe and kind environment. I am very proud of our school for being innovative, and our principal supports teachers thinking outside the box. Teachers are always looking to find ways to create excitement and curiosity in their students, and I am no different in that regard.
My Project
To learn about rhythms and pitches, students need a way to internalize the sound. Playing an instrument is a great way to learn about rhythm and beat. But hitting a boom whacker is an even better way to focus energy on music.
With boom whackers, students can learn about rhythm in an engaging way by playing instruments to feel the music.
Many students do not have access to instruments at home and this would give them another opportunity to expand their knowledge of music and world rhythms.
Our school is wonderful with kind and caring students who love music class! Students enjoy coming to music where they can relax and have fun while learning how to read music. We do have a high percentage of students on free and reduced lunch, so many cannot afford an instrument for their home, so students' music time is done majorly at school.
These instruments would be used by over 300 students a year and if they last as long as my old ones, they will be used by thousands of students.By helping fund this project, you are helping numerous children to learn music for many years to come.
