This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students learn best with hands-on projects! They are great kids who sometimes feel like they don't have any chances in this world. They sometimes wonder, "Why do my best?"
They could do so much more if we had the resources and the opportunities for them to really see what they are able to do if they put their minds to work for them.
I believe in them as do all the teachers in our school, but many of them have little or no academic support at home to help them dream big and believe that they can reach their dreams with a little hard work and effort.
My Project
Vocabulary is the area that my students fail to grow in the most every year. I would like to get these resources, the Greek and Latin root word books and the prefixes and suffixes books and game to help them to grow their interest in learning new words and their meanings. It will also help them to express themselves better and more accurately in their writing. It will also help with their reading comprehension and reading fluency. My students start out in school at a disadvantage as to how many words they have been exposed too, it's time to grow.
