My Students

My third grade students are attending a STEM school that provides education for over 700 students ranging from preschool to 6th grade. Our STEM school focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math. We give our students hands-on experiences and project-based learning opportunities in order for them to explore and expand their knowledge.

My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds.

Some are English language learners and need support in their learning while others are above grade level and need to be challenged. They are eager to learn and especially excited as we engage in hands-on learning experiences like science and math. They are learning to work cooperatively, to share ideas, and to engage in real-world experiences that will help prepare them for the future.

My Project

Covid-19 has brought many challenges to schools and classrooms. My students have been greatly affected because they were only in 1st grade when shut-downs started to happen. Reading scores have dropped and students are struggling with their ability to read. These new book series will help motivate my students to read. I have selected a variety of reading levels from early readers through upper grades to meet the needs of all my readers. I have also selected a variety of books from graphic novels to informational text as well as mysteries, stories of dragons, love of animals, and other topics that will engage and invite students to read. With your generous donation I will be able to provide these new book series and provide a new wave of reading excitement in my classroom!
