As a music teacher I see almost every smiling face within my building. I teach DK all the way through fourth grade and my students are on their second school year with me! I am so excited to grow and experience music with them once again. My students are kindhearted, eager, and sometimes misunderstood. I teach in a school district where some of our families are facing some major hardships. Before I arrived, my students experienced a lack of consistency and comfort in the music room. I'm ready to change that by making my room a place of expression, wonder, and security for my students!
My Project
Having a variety of instruments available increases levels of engagement in the music room! My students need boomwhackers and egg shakers to help enhance their musical experience. Boomwhackers help students hear pitch, read music, and establish ensemble playing! The resources available for boomwhackers are extraordinary and will help engage many different types of learners. From modern to folk, we can use boomwhackers to play and learn about many other styles of music! Egg shakers are a great tool for all ages. They can be used to help define beat with younger students and create an additional element to ensemble playing with my older students.
By donating to this project, you will not only help grow our musical inventory, but you will help our elementary program grow too!
Students are more willing to participate and behave appropriately when they have something exciting to look forward too. By having scarves, my students can experience how to move to sound a music. The scarves can be used to show expression in musical phrases or add texture to dance. The materials requested through this project will help provide a deeper musical experience for my students.
