My Students

The music room can be a safe haven for many students during their middle school years. My goal for middle school choir and general music is to keep music fun, cool, and inspiring during this important (and difficult) growing time of their lives. I see every 6th grade student for 9 weeks in General Music. I also teach 2 sections of 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade choir. My students come from all different types of backgrounds which makes for a wonderfully diverse classroom.

My Project

Help me give all my students the joy of Boomwhackers! These colorful melodic tubes are a fun way to explore notation, reading music, vocabulary, and various genres of music for all different ages. Boomwhackers would be a wonderful unit to explore during general music to allow students to learn to read notes and be part of an ensemble. They would also be a fun way for more advanced choir students to review note names! In addition, who doesn’t love relieving stress by playing music AND whacking something on the floor. Please help us grow as musicians by funding this project!
