My Students
Our students come from more than 20 countries with as many native languages represented. Each week we welcome newcomers from around the world. Many of our students live in high poverty conditions and don't have opportunities to make instrumental music with others.
Music offers a way for us to explore and express ourselves without words.
My Project
Boomwhackers are color coded tubes that sound pitches when tapped on a surface. They are fun to use and allow success at multiple levels so all can feel a sense of accomplishment. The manner in which the boomwhackers are played is also satisfying to kinesthetic learners. There are free resources available that use current songs to engage the students' interest. Matching the colors to the notes they sound makes learning the notes of the treble clef very natural and the songs practically play themselves. Collaborating and composing original music is also a breeze with boomwhackers. Please consider donating so my students can have fun while creating and playing music!
