Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My high school students had been resilient during remote learning, staying on top of their assignments, being present during our digital conferences, and taking care of their responsibilities at home while their parents work. They had learned to manage their time by getting things done and being versatile.
My students had become responsible young adults who had shown great strength during these uncertain times and had stayed focused on their academic achievement against all odds.
They had placed great value on their education and had expressed how much they miss being at school learning next to their classmates.
My Project
In my non-native Spanish class my students are immersed with a variety of verbs weekly. They are challenged to identify the tense use, the grammatical changes based on the pronouns and its context within sentences. Boom Cards are digital, self-checking, interactive activities that gives students immediate feedback and practice. Students are shown one question at a time and get instant feedback on their answers. This is something our paper-book curriculum lacks.
The use of digital Boom Cards to practice verbs will add the extra support students need during remote learning.
Boom Cards are a fantastic way of enhancing my students skills of Spanish verbs! Students can practice Boom Cards anytime, anywhere digitally in their phones. It is a great review tool to prepare students for the upcoming assessments.
