I am determined to provide my class with a positive learning environment that offers what they deserve to keep them engaged. My kindergarteners are energetic and excited to learn new things everyday. They each bring a unique perspective that adds to our classroom in an amazing way.
I am inspired every day by their curiosity and creativity.
This challenges me to constantly be searching for a new way to present content that allows each student to learn in their own, individual way. They love to move, use technology, and engage in activities that allow them to compete while learning. I can't control what happens outside of the school, but I can control what happens inside my classroom to give these kids the experiences they need to become successful!
My Project
Kindergarteners are a handful! However, when they are given engaging books to learn from and get lost in they are better able to focus and grow the foundational skills they will need for the rest of their lives. It is imperative for these little friends to discover the importance of reading and the adventures they can embark on right from our classroom.
The adventures we want to go on include The Recess Queen, Pumpkin Jack, Tacky the Penguin, and Duck for President.
Through modeling how to read a book properly my students will learn the concepts of text, how to use inflection, and comprehension skills faster. That is why I am asking for a variety of exciting read alouds to use in my classroom.
I am also looking forward to growing my classroom library to include more beginning reader books. My students enjoy reading book series such as Pete the Cat, Biscuit, Piggie the Elephant, Fly Guy, and No, David! I would love to add more informational texts about our world and how things work. Kindergarteners absorb facts about trucks and snakes and volcanoes (Oh my!).
Through these fiction and nonfiction readers my students will be able to explore the world around them, expand their vocabulary, grow their imaginations, and foster a life-long love for reading.
