This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
To quote Dr. Seuss, "be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." By learning and working cooperatively, my class rises above the negativity that bullying creates!
The students in my classroom come from a high poverty area of Florida.
100% of them receive free or reduced lunch due to their low socioeconomic status. They live in low income housing with many brothers and sisters and generally a single parent or guardian. They don't have access to the most common tools to be successful in school.
My Project
Students that come from low socioeconomic areas either receive no encouragement or motivation to succeed to the greatest degree or have no one believing that they can. I am requesting anti-bullying, cooperative learning centers for my students to use on a daily basis to combat this stereotype and eliminate negativity about success. They will work in groups to gain strength in reading comprehension skills and strategies so that they can succeed beyond their wildest dreams! By creating groups within my classroom, I hope to encourage comradery among a diverse population of students which in turn will impact society and eradicate bullying.
By providing my students with these materials, their lives will change for the better.
They will be given the motivation and encouragement they need to follow their dreams and these materials will help them get there.
