My Students
Most children cringe when they hear the words healthy and exercise. My children need hula hoops, balls, jump ropes, planting materials, experiments, books, and healthy snacks for them to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle.
My children go to a rural Title One school. Over 80% of our children are on free or reduced lunch. A lot of my children live in poverty and do not get the proper nutrition for their bodies. When given a choice, they will pick candy over fresh fruit, vegetables, or healthy snacks.
My Project
My students will be reading books and doing experiments to learn how proper nutrition is needed for their bodies to grow and develop properly. The experiments that they will be doing will show how their bodies need nutrition for energy throughout the day. They will be planting their own vegetables and fruit. They will have healthy snacks they will be able to eat at school. The hula hoops, balls, and jump ropes will give them the ability to have fun while exercising during recess.
This project will give my first grade students the foundation that they need to start a healthy lifestyle that they can continue for years to come. They will have fun leaning about nutrition, healthy living, and exercising.
