My students are amazing and come from very low economic home lives. Most live in government housing apartments, trailer parks, and a few live in conventional homes.
When given the opportunity for purchases at the school store, my kids will purchase soap, shampoo--things for their family to use.
My treasure box is always looking for more to give out the need is so great. They are very bright!
This will be my third year teaching, and my school is a Title I school. Funds are super low. I have tried to make it a beautiful learning space. A space my students would never want to leave and be happy to spend seven hours of their day. Even doing my best, I feel there are things I cannot personally supply and that is where I am taking the time to ask for your help.
Right now we would love some books to support our learning of reading and writing strategies. We are using Jennifer Serravallo's books and would like the books that are recommended in the lessons to support learning further for our first-grade students. Thank you for your consideration of this project.
These books will be used during literacy instruction. We will be using them to help our students learn across the four domains of literacy: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The books as part of the Jennifer Serravallo collection and number of materials requested will outfit the three first-grade classrooms of our school, even providing support for kids that are below-grade level.
They will serve 75 kids a year for about five-to-six years. We would love your support of our project.
We wish these books were part of our school library, but they are not. We would love your support in providing quality literature for our students to study.
