I have a classroom full of 21 kindergarteners that will absolutely steal your heart within just minutes of stepping into my classroom! They are the sweetest children! Every morning they come skipping down the hallway and smile up at me as they walk through the door. All-day long, their little hands shoot up in the air, eager to ask me questions and tell me stories about their cats, eating macaroni and cheese for lunch and their new sneakers. Their excitement and joy are infectious, it's impossible not to be happy when you're around them! They love learning, and even play teacher during playtime, reading to other children, just like I read to the class. They get so excited when they find sight words in the books they read, calling me over to show me, gleaming with pride! I truly have the best job, as I get to spend my day with the kindest and happy people that have a love of learning like no other - children!
My Project
The books that will be purchased will be used to support STEAM projects that combine English Language Arts and STEM in my Kindergarten Classroom! Each book will be used in conjunction with a project, with the goal of creating thinkers, learners, and innovators, starting in Kindergarten! One of the main factors of learning is motivation, in which students are more likely to learn and be interested when they are provided with an opportunity that is engaging and with purpose. These books and STEAM projects will provide my young learners with an incredible opportunity to listen to read alouds, identify real-life problems in the text, brainstorm solutions, and then actually design, construct, test and improve their solutions in a hands-on experience as a class!
