Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember what it was like to get immersed in a book as a child? Remember the first time you met a character or even appreciated the artwork on the pages. There is nothing greater than teaching a child to love reading. Many of my students come from low income homes, many of which do not have many books.

A classroom library should be a place where students have endless opportunities to get carried away with a book.

It should be an exciting section of each classroom.

My Project

Every student has different interests. Some enjoy sports while others prefer the Arts. The same goes for reading interests. Students truly learn to love reading when they have ownership of what they are allowed to read. When kids see that there is a variety of things to read, they are given the opportunity to see what they like and want to learn more about.

Having a selection of both fiction and nonfiction books will allow the students this opportunity.

Many of these kids do not have books to read at home and building up the classroom library will give them more chances to develop that love for reading.
