Mrs. Gilmore from Wilson NC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a book to take home for the summer along with a reading packet to prevent the summer slump. They also need a few new nonfiction sports books for our classroom library.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" ~ Dr. Seuss
My 4th graders know that organization is important in my classroom, and I believe that it makes them love coming to class!!
They also love attending our rural, medium-sized elementary school in central North Carolina. We have a population of approximately 650 students. We have a diverse group of learners from a variety of economic backgrounds. We provide free breakfast and lunch for all students in order to keep their morning and afternoon on the right track. We also have a number of students that receive a bag of food each weekend. Our staff works hard to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students.
This year, we read "The Watsons Go To Birmingham" as a class. They loved the characters and storyline. They are going to love reading another book by the same author.
With summer fast approaching, most teachers are worried about students not reading enough.
By providing the books and reading materials, I hope to keep them motivated to continue their wonderful progress!!! We will be able to have conversations through Class DoJo about their reading progress including being able to encourage them to pick up more books along the way.
These past few months, they have been asking for nonfiction sports books. I thought that it would be a good way to end the year by adding books they are interested in to our classroom library.
