Help me give my students the gift of quality literature with higher level thinking questions and activities. These books will help supplement an advanced curriculum where students become better thinkers!
My students are from a rural town on the outskirts of a high socioeconomic area. They have some home support and all students receive free lunch. My students are excited to learn and thrive in a stimulating environment. They are genuinely kind and caring individuals who will be able to positively impact our world in the future. Coming from very diverse homes gives us an interesting advantage as our students learn that differences allow for exciting opportunities. With many different languages spoken and a wide array of cultures, students learn so much from simply being together in a classroom.
These books will be used with small group guided reading to ensure students are reading quality literature and that they are answering higher level thinking questions. These books have been carefully selected to supplement our students' reading program.
As students learn the skills to become better readers and thinkers, we will use these books to help them make the reading-writing connection.
Quality books will ensure all students can achieve at a higher level. Some of these books are award winning books. Students are guaranteed to read strong character descriptions and complex plots. Analyzing character and plot is important to ensure higher level thinking.
