Help me give my students books that promote kindness, understanding, diversity, and investigative learning. These books will inspire students to go above and beyond, to think outside the box, to show empathy and to learn.

My Students

My class is a fantastic group of hardworking, motivated, and giving second graders. Their attitudes are positive, and they love to learn. However, with many budget cuts and our low income community, it is hard to meet the demands of student needs.

These students devour any challenge or new topic brought up in class.

They have a love for learning and investigating new ideas. Recently, I've noticed a need for new books to lead mini-lessons with. My students love reading, however most of our books are hand-me-downs from the teachers who retired before I got to our school. My students want current books that teach kindness, diversity and understanding.

These students are from a low income community yet they are immensely successful. Our school district is a Blue Ribbon School that recently was recognized as one of the top elementary schools in the state. I'm telling you, these kids are amazing!

My Project

My students are craving new books! Most books in our classroom are older than the school building. Help me show students that there is a world of diversity and kindness just waiting for them.

The books in this project are books by authors that really emphasize character building, empathy, diversity and kindness, as well as teach children to have voices within themselves inspiring them or helping them grow as human beings.

It is never too early to teach children how to be kind and caring to others and to themselves. In addition, it is never to early to teach students the power of perseverance and acceptance. These books will create endless teaching opportunities to help them grow. Please help my second graders become the best versions of themselves!
