Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a 4th grade classroom in a Title One school in a low-income, diverse community. Despite the many hardships and struggles my students bring with them each day they come to school excited and ready to learn.

Our classroom is full of thinkers and makers!

We are engineers, scientists, artists, mathematicians, musicians, inventors, and creators!

We need books, lot of books, about other inventors and creators to inspire us to tinker and invent! We want to learn about and study the people who paved the way for S.T.E.A.M. to be a part of what we do each day in our classroom!

We would appreciate your support in helping us fill our classroom library with books about innovators and inventors especially women and people of color.

My Project

All of the books we are asking for will inspire young inventors and engineers to solve every day problems. They are also great for STEAM learning and for teaching growth mindset.

STEAM is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!

I am hoping to spark an interest in inventing, or encourage a child's passion that he/she already has with one of these books. We will be hosting an "Invention Convention" to share our inventions with parents and our school community to encourage others to use their imaginations!
