This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of energy and questions! Their favorite part of the day is when they are able to complete hands-on and engaging projects. They thrive on challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! Their energy and excitement to learn is truly amazing!
Eager, enthusiastic, and energetic; my students are ready to jump in to any challenge!
Our school is a Title I school that educates 475 students. Our school provides daily free breakfast and lunch for our students. Most of our students come from single parent homes where they work hard to provide for the basic needs of their children.
Each child in our school absolutely loves learning but teaching must be done with a variety of methods to continue to keep our children engaged. Our school mission is to Motivate Every Student Every Day so different teaching strategies must be used to keep the motivation up! They are truly an amazing group of children!
My Project
My students need STEM picture books to help promote critical thinking skills and problem solving techniques. I am requesting books to help in integrating science and reading in an engaging, kid-friendly way. Fiction and nonfiction picture books stimulate students on both the emotional and intellectual levels. These books are appealing because children are able to connect with the imaginative illustrations, engaging story lines, and vivid photographs while exploring topics such as lightbulbs, the power of advertising, and the solar system. These books will help with hands-on projects such as making bees "fly" to different flowers and the concept of force and gravity by making ramps.
