My first graders live in a small community that values education and hard work. They are excited every day to come to school, and I enjoy seeing their faces light up when they grasp something for the first time, or learn something new! As a small, public, elementary school, we have a strong sense of community, but sometimes a smaller resource pool from which to get the supplies we need.
I believe in each of my students and want to foster his or her creativity and thirst for learning.
My students are so excited to learn this year! They are happy to be in the classroom and are excited to engage in interactive studies and discussions. A major goal for my class this year is to improve the students' reading skills through guided reading groups.
This selection of books will allow my students to learn and participate in reading groups at their individual reading level.
Students learn at different paces, so it is essential to have a variety of books available to help differentiate and accommodate each student's needs. I chose these books not just for their varied reading levels, but also to appeal to a wide variety of interests. This includes great titles such as, “ Pig Is Big on Books” and, “I Will Try.
My hope is that these books will not only help my students become better readers, but will also spark their imaginations!
