At our elementary school, we take pride in our diverse community filled with various cultures and ethnicities. We are a one big family! We promote kindness and respect towards one another and do what we can to help each other when in need.
In my classroom, I have 25 enthusiastic, loving, and determined students.
They come to school eager to learn new things and be in an environment where they are safe and free to express who they are. They love to dance, solve math problems, and most importantly, they have a strong desire and passion to read!
As a first grade teacher, it thrills me to work with students who have a love for reading. At this grade and age level, exposing students with opportunities to read is extremely crucial for their growth and development as readers/learners! With that being said, due to minimum resources at home, reading may stop for a majority of my students the second they leave the classroom.
My Project
Many of my students don't have the resources to get books or the ability to go to a library. The only books these students get are from my personal library or those that they take from the school library. The purpose of getting these books is to allow students to continue their love for reading outside of the classroom. I want them to expand their reading abilities as well as their passion for literacy!
Help me send a book home with a child every day!
As teachers, we expect students to read at home each night, but what do students do if they don't have any at home? If we have these books for them to take each night, they can read it and bring it back when finished to check out another one.
I would truly appreciate your support with creating an awesome learning experience for my students!
