The students I work with are third graders who are full of energy, creativity, and inquisitiveness. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and all have differing needs. They are interested in a wide variety of books including picture books and chapter books. They love historical fiction, realistic fiction, graphic novels, and mysteries. And they love to get new books! As a teacher, I want to foster their LOVE of reading, which increase their learning not only in literacy but all areas. Reading is so important at this age!
My Project
Reading is of utmost importance in a child's growth and education. Reading increases vocabulary, knowledge in history and social studies, and builds social emotional knowledge. The books on this list encompass all of these areas. My students love a good book, but sometimes finding a book that peaks their interest and gets them reading for a long period of time is difficult. Please help me to expand my classroom library with books that my students will want to pick up and read- and will keep them reading!
