The grade 9-12 students at our High School hunger for more business classes. Currently, we offer one business course, Accounting 1. Parker is a rural farming community of 1,000. Unfortunately, many of our students need to move to a larger urban center to pursue professional and business careers.
Because of a lack of basic business classes, our grads begin at a disadvantage.
Next year we are adding a new class, Intro to Business! I'm eager to share my experience with them, but also I need to gain expertise. That means I need to study and plan this summer. I feel these books will provide me with the information I need to chart the course for a successful and interesting Intro to Business class.
My Project
As I read these four books, I will design an all-new business class for my high school students. Because the class has never been taught at my school before, I have no materials to draw from.
With these four books, I will create an "Intro to Business" curriculum for the 20-21 school year.
I'm going to develop the course this summer. It's going to be great! Case studies and theories from these books will sharpen my ability to teach sales and marketing and other business basics. My students have few opportunities for exposure to the exciting world of business, a field that many will pursue in the future. I want to give our students a level playing field for post-high school careers and further education in business.
