My students need books to build their literacy in English and Spanish.

My Students

My students are Spanish learners, both heritage and new to the language. They are a diverse, interesting, creative, and energetic group of young people.

They need materials and books to spark their interest in reading, and to feel proud of their language heritage.

These students are emerging bilingual students who will have a huge advantage in today's world, if they can develop high levels of Spanish literacy.

I am proud to work with these students and to support them in their language learning journey.

My Project

We will be using these books to help students build their vocabulary in English. My heritage learners need to develop reading skills in English and Spanish and they need to have a selection of different genres and topics and reading levels to choose from.

This project will fund graphic novels, fiction, and nonfiction.

Many students have a low reading level so this project provide them with low level readers designed for teens.

These books will help students find a book that they are interested in and capable of reading. I hope to foster a love of learning in Spanish and English this year in my school!
