My Students

Covid 19 has affected every person on this planet, some more intensely than others. My students are part of that generation that has their education interrupted and affected adversely.

We need books to diversify our understanding and appreciation of each others’ lives.

Learning online can be a solitary experience. Books help us to understand each other and appreciate the challenges we all go through.

When education goes online as it has the past couple of years, interaction is greatly diminished and opportunities for growth are stunted. Literature can fill gaps of understanding and increase empathy.

My Project

These books deal with the hardships that others have had to overcome, inspiring them to draw on their own strength and the inspiration of a community to overcome the struggles in our lives.

Books increase empathy.

As we understand each other, we appreciate and honor the struggle we must all go through. This selection of books will inspire and encourage readers to do the best they can and help others on their journeys as well.

Public education is key to overcoming racial prejudice and bias that is clearly a part of our society. Learning and understanding have to happen. Books are key to that learning.
