Our students are a diverse population that love to come to school and no doubt will be feeling the stress of the current situation as many of us are. As the school media specialist/librarian at Harris Elementary I know that our students are going to miss their loving teachers, support staff, friends, and the daily routines they have become so familiar with.
Fortunately, we know that these difficult times will soon pass, and I want to be optimistic!
The book "wish" list I am requesting was curated from the Brightly Blog, Raise Children That Love to Read, Giggle-Inducing Books for Second and Third Graders by Janssen Bradshaw.
It's often said that laughter is the best medicine. I look forward to the day I can share a "giggle-inducing" book with our students once again. The addition of these books to our school library can help bring some well deserved laughter to our days as we all work together to return to our normal routines.
My Project
I would like to help bring joy and laughter to the students when they return from the crisis. Laughter is the best medicine and what better way to bring it into daily learning than with literature! Laughter is proven to reduce stress and this will have a positive impact on student's learning as well as their health. With so many things to worry about it would be great to have some 'laugh out loud' books to share with the students. It's so easy to become caught up in the daily chaos around us but it's important to remember to take time to experience the joy!
