Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing first graders come to school everyday eager to learn! Coming from a low socioeconomic community, my students know what it means to be resilient and to persevere. They are english learners who work each day in school to help prepare them for a future full of opportunity! Creative, determined, and full of curiosity, my students explore the world within our classroom. Their own experiences and knowledge contribute to our learning each day.
Our school community strives to prepare each of our students for college and careers in a global and multilingual world.
We work hard to provide not only basic needs to our students (clothes, food, etc.) but also a path to achievement, to graduation, to a successful and meaningful life. Many of my students dream of being veterinarians, astronauts, police officers, and teachers!
My Project
My amazing bilingual first graders need a classroom filled with books for them to explore and practice their reading skills. Requested titles include I Love Saturdays y domingos, The Name Jar, My Name Is Gabito/ Me Llamo Gabito, Big Brown Bear, and What Day Is It?
These leveled readers allow them to see themselves in literature and practice reading in both English and Spanish!
Each day students will read from their new leveled library and be able to take home books to proudly show their families their reading skills.
It is important for my students to have access to books at their reading level and beyond. Our new class library will be filled with fun and exciting books that reflect my brilliant students and their lives.
