Help me give my students books in order for them to learn about how planting seeds can help the earth. Help me teach my students to be responsible caretakers of our planet!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are low income students in an urban area. They are preschool age, about 4-5 years old. These students are naturally curious and inquisitive.
Early on in the year they started pulling seeds out of their apples and oranges and asking questions about them.
They were fascinated that these fruits grew on trees and wanted to learn more.
My students take in information and love having the opportunity to learn. Every day they are excited to discover more in every subject area.
My Project
This project is to request books to help my students learn more about things growing from seeds. Books include topics on fruits and vegetables, pollination, flowers, and taking care of the planet.
My students have shown a fascination in seeds from fruits they eat every day.
These books will help them learn more about where seeds come from in an engaging way. They will also teach the students why it is important to plant seeds, and how to be responsible citizens on our planet.
The books will support the learning of my students by answering their questions, and going a little beyond. They will teach students not only what comes from seeds, but why that is important.
