Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Humanities and Leadership magnet school located in the city of Reseda, California. More than 75% of students enrolled come from low-income households. Many of the students' families do not have reading books at home and rely on the classroom and school libraries for reading books. With the help of donors like you, I would like build my classroom library and instill a love for reading in my students.
In my classroom, I have future doctors, educators, scientists, politicians; I have America's future scholars.
My students are curious, creative, critical thinkers, and enthusiastic learners. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to foster my students' love for learning and prepare them for a world where literacy is essential for success. Having a diverse selection of books in the classroom will help me spread excitement for reading.
My Project
The Caldecott Classroom Library Builder and the other Scholastic books I am requesting will add a variety of reading text to my classroom library. The classroom library is where students independently read titles of their choice and listen as I read to them aloud.
Read aloud is the time of the day where we sit and let our imaginations roam through the plot of a good book.
The titles I selected are popular among my students. With these books, my students will have a variety of titles to read independently, discuss story elements, write book reports, and make their books come alive by building dioramas.
